Mukul Roy has sought permission from the BJP's central leadership to take out a rally in West Bengal in the name, 'Paribartan of Paribartan' (let’s change the changed).

Paribartan was the clarion call of Mamata Banerjee before 2011 election, which brought her back to power.

Roy has coined the new slogan for the BJP and reportedly asked party president Amit Shah to take out a rally across the state.

However, West Bengal BJP president and former RSS member, Dilip Ghosh, wants to turn the event to an entire BJP affair, not a rally by Roy alone. Ghosh also gave it a name—Jana Jagaran Yatra—instead of what Roy had named.

Amid this, Roy has reportedly sought the intervention of central leadership to sort the matter out.

It was well known that the band of leaders from Bengal had tried to block the entry of Roy into BJP. But even after they allowed him to come in, Roy is facing issues while trying to operate on his own.

“Mukul Da, however, has been given full power by the central leadership including our president Amit ji. So, he would succeed in turning the table in West Bengal,” said a leader close to Roy.

Roy, however, is trying not to make a public issue.

“There is no misunderstanding between me and party. Everything will be sorted out,” said Roy.

Meanwhile, Roy, for the first time, lashed out at Mamata Banerjee by calling her “corrupt.” Earlier he concentrated on attacking his nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, also an MP.

Roy said, “CM is surrounded by corrupt men but she says she is honest. This government has corruption cases of thousands of crores in its kitty. Everything will be exposed at the proper time.”

CPI(M) said it would wait for more revelation from Roy.

“She had created a Frankenstein who will make her life miserable in the coming days. We will wait and watch,” Gautam Deb, central committee member of CPI(M), told THE WEEK.

Calling Mamata as Jayalalitha of Bengal, Deb said, “Like the former Tamil Nadu leader, our chief minister is putting her picture on every government product or materials. She is truly the Jayalalitha of Bengal.”

Deb, however, feels that despite Roy joining BJP it won't be easy for BJP to come to power in Bengal.

“Even today we have a massive party structure and members all over the state. West Bengal would not accept BJP. Only possibility left is, it can replace Trinamool Congress in Bengal,” he said.
