  • Gamification, harnesses games for imparting serious learning

Gamification—using games for serious learning—is a burgeoning trend in web-based education and retraining. It has been used with some success with professional re skilling and now it is being offered for school -age children.

One recent launch is Playablo, a gamified learning and skill assessment platform for CBSE and ICSE students of class 1 to 5. It features thousands of short 7-question quizzes that slowly increase in complexity. It harnesses gameplay elements like points, leader-boards and peer-to-peer competition. The game content is firmly rooted in school and Board syllabuses with real-time reviews and benchmarking.

Playablo comes from a Bangalore-based startup founded by CEO Dheeraj Sharma who has recently tied up with with Unnati, a Bangalore-based NGO to help re-skill young adults and provide them skills like spoken English.

Playablo can be downloaded as a free app at the Google Play site here

The trial and basic version is free but the full premium content requires a subscription.
