A few Kerala Blasters fans were allegedly beaten up by FC Pune City supporters after their team suffered a heart-breaking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Blasters in their ISL match at the Balewadi Stadium inside the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Friday night.
According to reports, the trouble began when a few Pune fans misbehaved with some women supporters of Blasters. This was questioned by other Blasters fans and they were beaten up.
After C.K. Vineeth scored a stunning goal in injury time to seal the victory for the visitors, frustrations of the home supporters grew. A few of the agitating fans allegedly manhandled the Blasters supporters and hurled abuses at them both inside and outside the stadium at the end of the game.
Vineeth took to Twitter to condemn the attack, stating that there was no place for violence in sports. The ace striker expressed hope that all Blasters fans returned home safe.
Sport is about celebrating victories and learning from the losses, and there’s no place for violence in that. Hoping all the Kerala Blasters fans get home safe tonight. #PUNKER
