When it comes to beauty and makeup, the media is filled with images and videos of fair-skinned women trying out the latest cream or wearing the hottest new shade of lipstick. There rarely seem enough products for dusky-skinned women. However, you needn't feel left out. Here's how you can pick out the right makeup for your skin tone.
Those with darker skin- tone usually have yellow undertones. But sometimes, darker skinned people, too, tend to have cooler undertones. If your veins appear blue or purple, you have cooler undertones.
Eye shadow and blush: Contrary to popular belief, women with darker skin-tones can choose from a range of bright colours. If you are feeling bold, you can opt for shades like purple or red. If you want to keep it subtle, try lavender, leaf green or peach. If a metallic finish is what you are looking for, opt for a rust or a peach with shimmer.
For blush, too, you could choose a peachy orange or a cherry red. If opting for an evening look, you can also choose a nice shade of copper.
If you are one of those girls with a darker skin tone but cooler undertones, try a bold shade like a brick red or a mauve.
Lipsticks: When it comes to nudes and neutral shades, choose browns like cocoa, coffee or brick. You could also opt for a toffee or a caramel shade.
Brighter shades of pink, red and wine tend to look good on women with dark skin, too. If you are feeling experimental, go for a shade of orange with depth.
What looks even better on dark skin for an evening look is a touch of shimmer on a dark lip. Going ombre with lip colour isn't meant only for girls with fair skin. Dark skinned beauties can try it too!
However, before applying make up, don't forget to get the shade of foundation right. Try out a shade close to your jawline. If it matches, go for it. If the foundation is a shade lighter, it will end up looking patchy or looking pale.
