Interior designers says green is the colour of the year. The various shades of green not only indicate harmony but also the increasing desire to be successful while maintaining a healthy and a well-balanced lifestyle.
In India, however, not many people are experimental with colours while doing their home interiors. Whites and off whites are some of the common picks that are usually found in most homes, irrespective of the size and space. Though these tones are perfect for summers, they tend to keep the aura cool during winters. Go natural this year and revive your interiors by introducing earthy, soothing tones of greens.
Charu Sachdev, co-founder, RockNShop, says, “From decoration and spacing to the colours you use, everything plays a part in transforming a house into a home. Greenery is not only a perfect colour for the spring season, but also a very comfortable colour for winters. The colour symbolises nature and peace in today’s time. One can play with greenery for a contemporary space, whereas use hints of it for a more traditional space.”
Green is also symbolic of peace, freshness and harmony. People usually introduce plants in their homes, but there are several other ways through which nature's delight can be initiated easily. Parul Mittal, director, marketing and design, Greenlam Industries, says, “If you are someone who loves statement furniture, iconic show-pieces, or even beautiful art murals, then introducing the hues of green is favourable. Just throw in some comfortable muted grey furniture, ash-coloured curtains and your abode already feels like heaven. Plants can also be kept in small window showcases made out of oriental ash, a type of veneer laminate. This not only ensures durability but is also very eco-friendly. Kale, a deep bottle green colour is described as the top pantone for 2017. But subtle green counterparts also add elegance to any space with their natural aura.”
